Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington

The Virtual Machines team in Azure Stack HCI is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us design and develop modern Cloud-powered features for virtualized workloads. We enable customers to manage their on-prem workloads through familiar Azure interfaces and enjoy the benefit of Cloud services. Developers on our team get experience delivering and integrating with cloud services while shipping on-premises software with discreet releases – not the average situation in today’s job market. Responsibilities

  • Be an experienced Senior Software Engineer who can work across Cloud services, on-prem systems and edge hardware.

  • Learn about new technologies and utilize them to accomplish your work.

  • Successfully collaborate with team members and across teams to deliver solutions that span multiple components.

  • Design and implement components and solutions within an existing multi-layer architecture.

  • Demonstrate a passion for solving customer pain points in a constructive manner.

  • Cooperate with our support team to provide customers with quick solutions to their issues

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 1+ years of experience working collaboratively with technical people outside your team (customers or engineers/PMs)

  • Proven technical problem solving, software design, and implementation skills as evidenced by prior projects

Cloud Background Check

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Background Check

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Perferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience working with complex Kubernetes deployments

  • Professional knowledge of golang and associated development workflow

  • At least 1 year of working on Cloud-scale, multi-instance services

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
