Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington

The Files and Identity Team drives collaboration, identity, and cloud experience infrastructure for Office. We deliver the platform and collaboration experiences so that our customers can work on the same document with others, in real-time, on any device. We drive the sign-in stack and experiences in apps like Office, Edge, Teams and OneDrive. We work with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the rest of Office to deliver performant and always-available access to your documents in the cloud. We modernize the collaboration experience with intelligent clients and services, and we are on the front lines of enabling Copilot for Office. As a Senior Software Engineer you will be designing and implimenting significiant features in Microsoft Office. You will be also be using data to make informed product decisions and partnering closely with customers and other product teams.

The team's next challenge is to bring our customers to the cloud through a mix of modernizing our apps and workflows, streamlining flows and removing friction, and bringing the value of the cloud closer to these users. We are using data to understand what our customers need and want, what makes Office useful to them, and how we can fill those needs in a way that translates directly to core Office business metrics: increased cloud usage and subscriptions. We do this by driving excellence into the fundamental parts of the system that our customers rely on and by delivering new value where it’s missing. We use ML to drive engagement with customer touch points, we use web tech for service-delivered share experiences, and we build cross-platform C++ for high performance native apps

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Curiosity and desire to learn 

  • Ability to effectively communicate about technical subjects  

  • Experience collaborating with others to deliver software features or projects 

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
