The Surface team is seeking a software engineer to join the Quality team. A candidate hired into this role will define and develop test tools, define test strategies, drive test planning, test execution efforts and test automation for Surface experiences. The engineer will be working in our touch and pen subsystem team. The engineer will work in a fast-paced environment and will need to demonstrate ability to learn new technologies, make progress quickly and with the maturity to identify and fill gaps. Candidates must enjoy working collaboratively with development, program management, hardware engineers, and partner teams. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer with a passion for integrated experiences to thrive in a small team environment. This person will ensure we are delivering the complete end-to-end hardware and software experiences that delight our customers.

The Candidate will:

  • Participate as a development team member and work closely with design, marketing and user experience teams.

  • Develop new test architectures, methodologies, and tools, including appropriate documentation.

  • Conduct technical reviews throughout the development process. This would include reviews of the test architectures, test plans, test cases, and results.

  • Identify product risk areas and mitigate them through characterization and analysis.

  • Be the customer advocate and translate customer use scenarios into measurable system performance attributes and test parameters.

  • Candidates should be able to apply core software skills and understanding of hardware to drive detailed problem solving within a technical team and with test partners.

  • Candidates should be able to engage with HW/SW architects to achieve optimal balance of project priorities relative to performance, quality, extensibility, development cost, and product cost with focus on building robust, scalable solutions.
