Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington

The Serviced Media Team at Microsoft generates media for a variety of customers, including operating systems and container images. This team powers the Windows Guest Operating System, which in turn supports many services in Azure and other clouds. Additionally, it enables OEMs and enterprises to publish media on devices and within enterprises, offering total control and customization capabilities. The team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain the services that produce these media images.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure the successful creation and distribution of images, leveraging the Serviced Media Factory, a collection of services running in Azure. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop microservices and architecture for media generation.

  • Implement and maintain Azure Functions, Service Bus, and other Azure services.

  • Utilize Kusto and PowerBI for data analysis and reporting.

  • Work with containers and Kubernetes for deployment and orchestration.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of media images.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise.

  • Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and consistency across the team.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation for software development processes and procedures.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.

  • Propose and implement improvements to enhance software performance and user experience.

  • Maintain close technical relationships with partner teams.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ software development/design experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years experience working in Azure including Azure security and Azure function applications.

  • 4+ years experience coding with C++.

Other Requirements

Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 8+ years software development/design experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience coding in C/C++/C#.

  • Experience with AI/ML solution development.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
