Microsoft Azure is building the fastest network in public cloud. We are seeking candidates who live and breathe systems software development, love working closely with hardware to build network systems software and services, taking things from idea to production.

The Azure Accelerated Networking team is where the rubber meets the road for Software-Defined Networking – we create the host offload platform that allows SDN controllers to perform arbitrary packet manipulations and virtualization, with very high speed. The Accelerated Networking Service enables us to scale SDN from 40Gbps to 100Gbps and beyond!

Responsibilities

Join us as a Software Engineer to build the world’s fastest public cloud and make a difference to millions of people across the planet. As a developer in the Accelerated Networking team, you would be responsible for building, testing and deploying software that accelerate network virtualization scenarios for use in Network Virtual Appliances, Containers etc. on Azure. You will also co-design the hardware acceleration support necessary for these scenarios working closely with various teams in Microsoft and our partners in the industry.

Knowledge/experience in one of these areas is a plus:

Linux and Windows internals (networking stack and other OS components); Host network offloads; SR-IOV; TCP/IP; Reliable, high quality software development; Switching and routing protocols; Virtualization (hypervisors; virtual machine switching); Performance optimization; Network hardware capabilities - NICs, switches, routers; Network virtualization (NVGRE, VXLAN); Driver and Kernel development; Compilers and API design; QoS, traffic scheduling and queueing.

Qualifications

  • BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Allied engineering disciplines, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience using C

  • Linux/Windows kernel and/or DPDK development experience

  • Solid System Design and Dev skills

  • Experience with performance optimization of low level code

  • Experience shipping products or services

  • Ability to work with multiple partner teams and external vendors to drive impact

  • Passion and drive for profound impact
