Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer - Containers/C/C++/Go/Rust in Redmond, Washington
The Virtual Machines and Containers team is looking for a talented and highly motivated software engineer to design and develop the next generation of our container platform. We’re leveraging the capabilities of the open source containerd runtime to bring the power of containers to the Microsoft Azure platform, Edge platforms, and numerous cloud services. We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who love to learn, have a passion for writing high quality software and enjoy collaborating with a dynamic team.
In this position you will work directly with engineers from teams in the core OS as well as from Azure compute, storage networking to design, implement and support the container platform used throughout Microsoft’s Azure and Edge platforms. You’ll collaborate with teams using container orchestrators like Kubernetes for both internal and external customer workloads. You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with the open-source community on the containerd runtime components written in Go. You’ll build solutions for running both Windows and Linux containers.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Go or Rust OR equivalent experience.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Solid architectural skills backed up by implementation experience
Strong coding, debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills
Strong understanding of systems software
Experience with containers, networking, storage and security
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
