The Role:
As Senior Silicon ATE Hardware Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive, design, and scale innovative semiconductor product manufacturing solutions for Kuiper’s custom RF SoC silicon. You will work closely with internal inter-disciplinary teams and third-party suppliers to drive key aspects of reliability, quality and test system definition, design, and deployment. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.
You’ll be responsible for designing and simulating mm-wave hardware for high-volume production test of Project Kuiper custom silicon. You’ll be part of the team that creates a chip and system test infrastructure and methodology applicable to transmit and receive communication systems.
Export Control Requirement:

Key job responsibilities
Create schematics for final-test load boards and wafer sort probe cards.
Interpret test plans for mm-wave SoCs, and design hardware solutions for mm-wave RF pins, high-speed SERDES up to 112G, and high-speed digital logic.
Decide on tester instrument configuration to optimize for test coverage and cost across multiple products.
Simulate load board layout, components, sockets, and packages to validate RF signal integrity.
Design PCB features such as stack-ups, t-lines, via transitions, socket transitions, etc. for optimized return loss.
Perform power integrity and signal integrity simulations for high-speed SERDES and digital SoCs.
Work with lab bench mm-wave test systems to measure fabricated hardware performance and correlate with simulation results.
Interact with suppliers and OSATs to complete hardware design, component selection, and fabrication.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical/communications engineering or related field.
7+ years in silicon test hardware design.
Up to 10% international travel required.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters or PhD degree in Electrical / Communications Engineering or related field.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
10+ years in mm-wave or RF silicon engineering for communications systems, preferably in high-volume consumer devices manufacturing
Strong technical background in one or more of the following:
Design, schematic capture, and layout for high-frequency PCBs.
3D/2D EM simulation tools and transmission line theory.
RF components like inductors, capacitors, splitters/combiners, filters, and bias tees.
Familiarity with de-embedding techniques such as SOLT, AFR, and TRL.
Experience conducting power and signal integrity simulations for large SoCs.
RF test equipment such as network analyzers, TDR, electronic loads, and oscilloscopes.
Load board design for Teradyne UltraFlex testers, and Advantest 93k.
Production control processes, statistical analysis platforms (Galaxy, JMP or similar), data interpretation/analysis, Cp/Cpk, and bench/tester correlation.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
