The C+E team builds engineering tools and systems for the Devices Supply Chain and partners with the Azure team to support the Cloud Supply Chain. The Devices Supply Chain supports getting products like Xbox, Surface, HoloLens into the hands of retail or enterprise customers. The Cloud Supply Chain supports getting server capacity in our Azure Datacenters. Supply Chain is key to winning in the Devices and Cloud business because it helps us with faster time to market, increasing profitability and improving our customer experience.

Microsoft’s Devices business has been accelerating never like before. With that growth, we have an exciting Senior Service Engineer position open for our Factory Health team to help realize the vision for Hardware Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineering.


The successful candidate will have great Engineering and operational skillsets. You will be a key member of our SCE Systems and processes Health team for Devices Hardware Supply Chain Engineering team, responsible for supporting the health of our services for Manufacturing & repair factories across our global hardware manufacturing facilities. You will be contributing to the architecture and design to drive reliability by design. You will drive end to end observability for our Manufacturing services and infrastructure to drive proactive approach to systems and processes health.

The successful candidate has great collaboration skills to work through a lot of partner teams to align them towards vision of One Observability for Factory Health to drive down TTX metrics and avoid customer incidents. The candidate will be able to deal with ambiguity and can zoom in and out as needed from seeing bigger picture to get into technical depth as needed. The ideal candidate will have a security mindset from design inception to execution, understanding and implementing best practices, and is always on the lookout for gaps to close and opportunities to improve the security posture of the environment. Securing your services is not something to be bolted on after-the-fact, but is a requirement from the get-go, and you jealously protect them at all layers from would-be-attackers leveraging defense in depth principles.

You are passionate about providing a fantastic service to your customers and partners. You think end-to-end, and don’t stop caring at the edge of your server. You obsess over availability and quality, driving to +99.9% uptime and zero major incidents, leveraging your experience in monitoring, telemetry, and alerting fundamentals. You will partner with other engineers and teams to meet and exceed service health targets.

Required Qualification:

  • 7+ years of Service Engineering, operating 24x7 production services.

  • 2+ Coding /scripting, automation of complex Reliability and observability tasks.

  • 2+ years of experience in troubleshooting skills.

  • 2+ years of experience in project management life cycle with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualtification:

  • Experience with hardware infrastructure (compute, storage, networking).

  • Cloud technologies - Azure IaaS, PaaS, networking, Azure automation and runbooks, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics.

  • Great communication skills to drive collaborate cross-group and work effectively within the team.

  • Previous Hardware Supply chain experience

  • experience in ADO, SCRUM methodologies
