This role is in the Azure Storage engineering team which builds the Blob/Data Lake, File, and Disk storage services. This platform is the underlying data foundation for all Microsoft services including Azure, Microsoft 365, Xbox, and more. We are looking for an energetic, customer-obsessed Senior Program Manager to work directly with our customers and partners to help them design and build solutions using Azure storage. The role also involves working on strategic initiatives that enable the Microsoft field to deliver the total value of our platform. This role is an opportunity to work directly on the Azure Storage engineering team while located anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Driving sales and technical enablement of the Microsoft field by partnering with multiple teams and stakeholders

  • Being the trusted advisor and SME to our customers for all questions related to Azure Storage

  • Meeting with customers at an early stage to identify their needs, present suitable designs, solutions, and help them to make decisions around cloud storage

  • Helping customers onboard to Azure Storage at a deep technical level and successfully transition production data workloads to Azure

  • Capturing common customer scenarios and producing high-quality collateral that can be published and shared broadly

  • Gathering feedback, experiences, and requirements from customers to help set priorities for our product roadmap

  • Becoming a local engineering team advocate for Azure Storage in your geography by participating in the local developer and IT communities

  • Ability to travel 25-50% of the time depending on customer and partner requirements

This role requires strong technical skills. The successful candidate will either be well-versed in general software design and development or have deep domain knowledge in the on-premises storage space. You’ll understand RESTful APIs and have the ability to troubleshoot complex cloud environments. To succeed, you should be self-driven and proactive with a demonstrated history of solving customer problems and having persistence in the face of challenges. An entrepreneurial sense of ownership of the Azure Storage business and the ability to operate autonomously are essential. You must confidently present to and advise customers and partners at all levels of the organization.

Success in this role is demonstrated by growing the Azure Storage business by directly onboarding large customer storage workloads and scaling out to a broad set of customers through the breadth of the Microsoft field.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in technical customer or partnerfacing roles

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or engineering, or 4+ years of equivalent work experience

  • 2+ years of professional experience in at least one of the following:

  • Strong coding, debugging, and problem-solving skills

  • In-depth knowledge of on-premises storage systems, architecture, and deployment

  • Experience working with cloud storage environments

  • Experience with large scale HPC workloads

  • Experience leading multiple projects successfully while working with several partners from different teams, organizations,or companies
