Within the broader Security Customer Experience Engineering (CXE) team, our group is focused on forging key partnerships with Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to bridge product gaps, enhance features, and drive forward innovation. We identify these collaborative opportunities by pinpointing industry leaders to partner with, aligning product functionality, co-launching cutting-edge technologies, and strategizing to broaden adoption. Our efforts are aimed at bolstering Microsoft's and our ISV partners' market standing with customers, competitors, and industry analysts alike.

We are currently seeking a Senior Product Manager - ISV Developer Architect who is enthusiastic about cybersecurity and eager to develop how ISVs can seamlessly integrate their solutions with our expanding Microsoft Threat Protection suite, including Microsoft Security Exposure Management and the Unified Security Operations Platform with Microsoft Sentinel and Defender XDR. In this role, you will define our architectural direction to improve our products' extensibility and simplify the way ISVs build upon the Microsoft Threat Protection suite.

Furthermore, our partnerships with ISVs are crucial in influencing our feature roadmap, ensuring that APIs are integral to feature releases. This focus minimizes the need for custom integrations, accelerates adoption, and supports scalability.

Responsibilities

We are looking for passionate people with experiences working with all service aspects of high throughput and multi-tenant services, ability to design components carefully, properly handle errors, write clean and well-factored code with good tests and good maintainability.   

  • Strategic Investment:  Serve as an technical point of contact into the Microsoft Security engineering teams for select ISVs and be responsible for delivering architecture workshops and design sessions. Collaborate with cross-organization partners to evaluate trade-offs and prioritize investments in alignment with company objectives. Guide roadmap prioritization to achieve success criteria and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).

  • Customer-Centric Insights:  Proactively anticipate customer needs and market opportunities through quantitative and qualitative analyses. Identify patterns across a portfolio of feature areas and define the impact and prioritization of challenges. Leverage data-driven insights to guide decision-making. You will deliver product specific ‘Outside/In’ sessions through a formal feedback program, this provides our PM teams with an external perspective on their feature’s vision, specifications, and architecture – both for the ISV integrating and the customer using the relevant feature/integration.

  • Thought Leadership:  Provide thought leadership within the team, addressing challenges and fostering a shared vision. Collaborate effectively to gain alignment and buy-in from group managers and other leaders. Rally the team around a common product direction. Proactively alert working groups of opportunities and potential issues when thinking about how underlying computer science and engineering processes will play out across products and lifecycles.

  • End-to-End Vision:  Collaborate closely with the Feature Product Managers, Business Development, and other customer focused Product Managers to drive the end-to-end product vision. Advocate priorities and resources, working across divisional boundaries to ensure successful execution.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:  Engage with cross-functional internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership and early adopting ISVs and Customers, to gather input and garner support for product vision, strategy, and roadmap. Work with Product Marketing, Business Planning, and Engineering to define product integration release criteria, customer acquisition strategies, and content creation. Strategize and lead the transition of ISV feature integrations from private preview to public preview and then to general availability.

  • *Effective Communication: * Communicate the product strategy to both internal and external audiences using various methods, including conference presentations and collaboration with partner organizations. Build consensus and alignment around the product vision.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in technical roles within endpoint, infrastructure, App and Device Management, Data Security & Privacy, Security Operations, including underlying security catalogue of API’s

  • 3+ years of experience evaluating customer’s needs, requirements, and challenges, and communicating solutions (positioning, technology, value, priority) with those customers

  • Knowledge of major cloud and productivity platforms as well as identity systems and related security concerns.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Security products, such as Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, and Entra ID.

  • Cross-group and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate business need for detection improvements.

  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders leading highly visible initiatives/products/projects at scale.

  • Additional advanced technical degrees or cyber security certifications such as CISSP, OSCP, CEH, or GIAC certifications.

  • A strategic mindset and vision to anticipate future demands and competitive needs.

  • The ability to partner closely with both internal and external customers and partners (technical and non-technical).

  • Highly adaptable to change and comfortable pivoting in response to changing circumstances and ambiguous situations within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in a variety of software languages and frameworks with the ability to pick up new variations working on the job

  • Deep technical knowledge in niche areas such as code injection, driver coexistence, etc that factor into client-side security products

Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
