Azure Edge+Platform [E+P] is responsible for Microsoft’s Operating Systems, IoT and Edge products, Engineering Systems, and Health Platforms that span cloud-to-edge and edge-to-cloud. E+P is the platform team for the company and the foundation upon which virtually every Microsoft product and service, like Azure, Xbox, HoloLens, Visual Studio, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Teams, is built. E+P products and services enable engineers to build out, deploy, manage, monitor, and secure Azure, Windows, and the rest of Microsoft. Additionally, E+P is responsible for several multibillion-dollar businesses of its own including Windows and Azure Monitor. Engineering Systems [ES] is a team in Azure Edge+Platform that builds and operates the Engineering System for two of the largest businesses at Microsoft: Azure and Windows. We provide our engineers, who work on code ranging from Azure Services to Windows and Linux based products, with tools and services to empower them to deliver world-class quality and secure products, with efficiency and high developer productivity, in a fiscally responsible way. This in turn helps enable Microsoft to deliver more functionality, of higher quality, with better security, and do it faster and more economically.

The OneBranch team is looking for a Senior Product Manager- Engineering Systmes, passionate about improving pipeline development tools, increasing developer productivity, securing our supply chain, and positively affecting development culture. Our immediate customers are Azure engineers, who always look to deliver better code and work faster. We develop and operate a set of engineering tools and services including build tools and services, verification services and code review tools and, engineering reporting and data analysis. All of these systems work together towards a unified engineering system for internal Azure developers. Our services are used by tens of thousands of developers.

Responsibilities

Our team helps developers creating Azure & Windows to be more productive and secure by providing them services, tools and guidance for their build and release (CI/CD) pipelines. Our team has one of the most leveraged jobs at Microsoft. Small improvements in upleveling the security and productivity of services enables Microsoft in deliver far more valuable products to the billion+ customers of ours, and we build on each others’ ideas to generate creative and novel ways to achieve our goals.

We’re looking for a entrepreneurial Senior Product Manager- Engineering Systems who cares deeply about the culture of the feature team to create the best ideas together… someone who is passionate about engaging with customers to know their needs well and comfortable in the use of data to make decisions. The primary responsibilities of this role are to gather customer requirements and data to design new software and services to be used by tens of thousands of Microsoft’s engineers. In this role you will lead our strategy of the build pipeline (CI) flow of the Azure organization and drive features of the Engineering System to helps developers of Azure to deliver high features and quality faster and more efficiently and securely than ever and includes the following day to day expectations:

  • Understand our customers to identify key insights to ensure we deliver great customer experiences which solve real world problems

  • Work with partners and key stakeholders to define the vision, strategy and product roadmap

  • Meet with, and survey customers (Microsoft engineers), identifying their core needs and unmet expectations.

  • Define success measures for the feature team and ensure technical investments are driven by data & customer feedback

  • Write functional specifications which fully describe problems & opportunities, scenarios and requirements by applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, or mathematical analysis

  • Provide leadership throughout the entire development cycle to deliver technical designs, features and user experiences with measurable results

  • Leverage existing telemetry data to gather insight into customer behaviors to drive prioritization decisions and feature improvements

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s DegreeAND5+ years experience in product/service/project/programmanagement or software development

  • ORequivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience designing and shipping high-quality software products.

  • 5+ years successfully designing and delivering solutions for complex technical problems.

  • 5+ years of experience writing technical scenario specifications.

  • Basic knowledge of engineering systems and processes at a large scale

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
