Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

Have you wanted an opportunity to develop the software applications and services for an advanced global internet connectivity service? The Kuiper Customer Terminal team owns all the software and on the Kuiper Customer Terminal - from the core drivers, base embedded Linux image, power management, thermal control, etc. Our team owns developing the architecture, solutions & roadmap for managing the overall applications layer, telemetry, terminal onboarding, updates and overall operation at a customer location. As the Senior Manager you will lead a team of engineers and engineering leaders to solve these problems.

Key job responsibilities

• Aid in the design and delivery of software components, applications and services.

• Develop the technical strategy to deliver these experiences at scale globally

• Work with our peer teams and stakeholders to design suitable software systems and interfaces to fulfill the customer needs.

• Develop a strategic plan for the growth of the team, both from a software services and organization perspective.

• Hire & Develop a diverse team of software engineers.

• Collaborate with your fellow team members to form a strong foundation for a software organization in Project Kuiper.

• Help on-board and mentor new team members.

A day in the life

You will work with Product Management and Business Stakeholders on defining the roadmap for Kuiper's customer lifecycle. You will own solving this for multiple customer segments and building software that is flexible for many different customers and countries.

Basic Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience

• 5+ years of engineering team management experience

• 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience

• Experience partnering with product and program management teams

• Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment

• Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $176,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $342,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
