The team’s charter is to build out end to end Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure while driving down unit cost of capacity, ensuring cloud services achieve gross margin growth. As a crucial member of the team, you will support short- and long-term investments leveraging extensive modeling and market intelligence. The focus is short-term infrastructure cost reduction initiatives from design approval to construction and keep Microsoft Cloud ahead of competition all while enhancing transparency into Cloud Infrastructure investments and safeguarding shareholder interest.

The Cloud Infrastructure Supply, Planning and Delivery finance team is seeking a Senior Finance Manager - Emerging Technologies to partner with Cloud Operations + Innovation, providing CAPEX and financial leadership across Microsoft’s cloud supply chain as we expand our footprint at scale via through building data center capacity and developing new technologies to enable our customers to achieve more. Senior Finance Manager - Emerging Technologies is a critical part of this team, ensuring the Microsoft Cloud businesses achieve the gross margin targets by proactively optimizing our roadmap investments from targeted data center designs and new technology solutions. This includes decision support for approved offerings, technologies, programs, and investments, defining financial models, developing, and managing KPI’s agreed to as part of the development process, including Total Cost of ownership (TCO) analysis for optimization, and margin accountability.

We are looking for a Senior Finance Manager - Emerging Technologies who has curiosity to learn the Cloud and AI business and wants to make impact through partnership with key finance and engineering partners, continuous process improvements, and driving business insight.

Responsibilities

  • Create insightful cost reports to provide clarity to current costs and specific focus areas to provide influence and analytics

  • Provide insightful cost management and program analysis focused on short-range planning and roadmap to gross margin targets.

  • Collaborate with Finance driving product profitability by Identifying and drive cross-functional efficiencies.

  • Collaborate with planning teams to define, forecast, and support optimal development strategies.

  • Contribute to Data Center development processes to drive accountabilities and track progress towards and TCO margin goals.

  • Continuously improve and evolve insights through crisp financial analysis and KPIs influencing and impacting the business.

  • Articulate findings into deliverables to enable decision making across executive engineering, business, and finance leaders.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field

  • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field

  • OR equivalent experience

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • Established leadership skills with analytical modeling and strategic thinking

  • Proven data and financial modeling capabilities and ability to work with financial systems

  • Ability to communicate complex analysis in a straightforward way. Executive level oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated results proactively driving and delivering high value/high-impact project through both individual and v-team efforts

  • Initiative-taker driving best-in-class decision support in ambiguous environments

  • Proficient collaboration capabilities, with ability to influence others without direct authority and appropriately push back as required

  • Comfort working at multiple altitudes, from strategic/high-level projects to detailed COGS analysis

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines, quickly prioritize impact and the resourcefulness to delive

Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
