Microsoft Corporation Senior Finance Manager - Azure deals and Cloud Economics in Redmond, Washington

Our Cloud Economics and Strategic Partnerships Team is an exciting and fast-evolving finance organization at the forefront of Microsoft’s cloud growth. We partner deeply with Microsoft engineering, sales, and business development teams to build strategic alliances with customers, that deliver maximum value through our cloud services.

We are looking for a Senior Finance Manager - Azure deals and Cloud Economic s to lead some of our largest and most strategic Azure deals and projects. This role focuses on defining the best competitive strategy and business case to drive and land healthy and successful long-term partnerships across different industry verticals. You will apply robust technical, financial, and business expertise, to build financial business cases related to complex IT environments, costs structures, and cloud migration strategies. You will also serve as subject matter expert for cloud economics discussions and cost-optimizing workloads running in the cloud.

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with the Field, Field Finance, Business Development, and Engineering to develop cloud business cases/financial models for our most strategic customers

  • Engaging with internal and external executives to articulate the outcome of financial analyses, synthesizing complex analyses simply to provide clarity of cloud partnership terms and financial outcomes

  • Partnering with Business Development, Strategic Sales, Engineering, and other teams to guide healthy Azure partnerships.

  • Leading customer discussions and finding creative ways to maximize probability of winning deals, with ROI and controlled risks.

  • Developing robust financial models to evaluate complex transactions and determine negotiations guardrails.

  • Guiding approval processes with Microsoft executives, and articulate deals business cases

  • Developing frameworks to accelerate, simplify, and scale Azure’s deal making process.

  • Defining competitive strategy, influence sales policies, and product roadmap.

  • Continuous learning of Microsoft Cloud services, infrastructure, operations, go-to-market, and long-term cloud economics.

Protect

  • Ensures compliance with company policies, legal standards, and regulatory requirements by reviewing and monitoring the accuracy of financial documents and business processes. Drives corrective measures. Supports questions regarding documentation, policy adherence, and requirements. Recommends approved instruments and processes. Remains current on all company policies and procedures and updates others.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 4+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 2+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Passionate about the technology industry, and ability to engage in technical discussions

  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills, enabling simple communication of complex topics

  • Analytical skills and strategic thinking

  • Modeling capabilities and ability to work with financial systems

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and uncertainty in a business that evolves at a fast pace

  • Comfort working at multiple altitudes, from strategic/high-level projects to detailed analysis

  • Proven leadership skills, with demonstrated results in proactively driving and delivering high value/high-impact project results through both individual and v-team efforts

  • Partnering capabilities, with the ability to influence others without direct authority and appropriately push back when required

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines

  • High level of self-motivation; ability to quickly identify what needs to be accomplished and resourcefulness to get things done

Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
