The role of a Retail Packaging Engineering Program Manager (Retail Packaging EPM) is to drive execution of the packaging user experience (UX) in support of product launches and sustaining packaging programs. This includes schedule creation and coordination with inter-disciplinary teams to ensure packaging structure and artwork is developed and approved on-time. In addition to creating the packaging plan, which includes a global workback schedule for structural development, testing, and builds (i.e. pack outs), the role requires Bill of Material (BOM) support, as well as Print On Demand (POD) labeling design and production.

Key job responsibilities

Working closely with global, cross-functional team members (e.g., Packaging Engineering, Global Commodity Management, Industrial Design, Marketing, Product Management, Go-to-Market, Operations, Logistics, Technical Program Management), they define key aspects of product packaging via structural design, execution, test, and delivery; while motivating cross-functional teams to deliver the product(s), as per the program requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of design experience

  • Have an available online portfolio

  • BA/BS degree in Packaging, Engineering, UX Program Management, or related studies.

  • 7 years of relevant work experience in the packaging and/or program management field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Packaging Engineering, UX Program Management, or direct packaging development experience.

  • Knowledge or experience in global packaging development and manufacturing.

  • Experience on programs using product development process lifecycles.

  • Experience with label design, label design programs, implementing, utilizing and/or sustaining Print-On-Demand (POD) labeling processes.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work closely with people at all levels of the organization to facilitate the implementation of packaging programs including structure, artwork, factory build readiness and escalations.

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to travel internationally.

  • Ability to navigate and manage programs with high ambiguity.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
