Within CO+I, the Datacenter (DC) Construction team, responsible for delivering datacenter capacity for Microsoft’s cloud business worldwide is looking to fill a critical high-profile role to build and lead a team focused on Preconstruction activities. We have a portfolio of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-million, multi-year datacenter construction projects spread around the globe and ensuring preconstruction activities including due diligence and constructability are addressed appropriately is very critical to the timely and optimized DC delivery.

Build a team of global Preconstruction experts that will drive the construction point of view into land selection and site due diligence activities in alignment with land acquisition/site selection teams.
Partner with design team in modularization techniques and design reviews and establish a closed loop feedback mechanism to eliminate late breaking changes.
Establish standards for equipment quality, verification at factory and in establishment of modularization capabilities in concert with procurement team.
Drive the creation of and deliver standardized constructability reviews with the design, procurement, and campus construction teams to identify/eliminate risks to safety, quality, schedule, and cost early.
Provide organizational rigor and discipline to frame project risk through preconstruction due diligence and manage the impacts of change.
Assesses the construction industry and the broader business environment to account for market conditions to provide and evolve regional delivery mechanisms that are tuned to the prevailing industry conditions.
Drive consistent best practices for preconstruction activities management and overall execution strategy including master site planning and site logistics in partnership with construction peers.
20+ years of successful, executive level project management and delivery in global construction with financial accountability in a rapid-growth environment.
Leadership experience at building, managing, and developing an organization that promotes diversity and inclusion in a fast-paced business.
Proven and successful experience in Front End Loading (FEL) and preconstruction activities management capacity on large capital projects.
Experience utilizing Advance Work Packaging (AWP) in successfully and efficiently delivering projects, a plus.
Experience in hyper scale datacenter and cloud infrastructure development, co-location/lease provider programs, large-scale critical environment engineering, a major plus.
Strong ethics in the management of large capital projects.
Excellent executive communication, leadership & demonstrable ability to use data for influence and decision making.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
