Microsoft Corporation Senior Data Engineer in Redmond, Washington

With continued growth in digital data and the desire to leverage data to address problems that touch all aspects of our lives, the International Engineering & Skilling (IES) team is growing to meet these challenges! The IES team is looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join its growing team of engineers contributing to making Microsoft Business Applications and Platforms products global in the Cloud!

As a Senior Data Engineer on the IES team, you will support data-led decision making and create Artificial Intelligence-based tools to improve productivity across the International Engineering and Skilling teams. This opportunity will allow you to explore and develop your skills on a broad range of technology for Extract Transform Load, data visualization, User Interface design, and Large Language Models. The data products that you develop will be shared with business leaders across the Business Applications and Platform teams, accelerating your career growth. Responsibilities

  • You will collaborate with internal and external teams to acquire the data necessary for your project plan and develop usable data sets for modeling.

  • You’ll also update internal best practices for data collection and preparation.

  • You will collaborate with consumers of data products to understand their needs.

  • You will propose solutions for how data products can optimize the consumers’ understanding of users of Microsoft’s Business Applications and Platforms, along with the corresponding Skilling deliverables.

  • You will develop visualizations that will enable individual contributors and team leaders to more effectively address customer needs and manage costs.

  • You will research and maintain a deep knowledge of the industry, including trends and technologies, so that you can identify strategy opportunities and contribute to thought leadership best practices.

  • You’ll also write extensible code that spans multiple features and develop expertise in proper debugging techniques.

  • You will define business, customer, and solution strategy goals, and partner with other teams and their leaders to identify and explore new opportunities.

  • You’ll also apply a customer-oriented focus to understand their needs and help drive realistic customer expectations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering,

  • OR related field AND 8+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling

  • OR data engineering work

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work

  • OR equivalent experience.

Data Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
