The Emerging Technology organization is looking for a Senior Business Manager for the Messaging and Real-Time Analytics Platform team. This is a critical role that supports the Vice President (VP) and works closely with the Leadership Team (LT) to drive business, customer, and overall operations, a thriving team culture, internal communications, and organizational health. This position is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of the LT operating rhythm and owns operational excellence, budget and headcount management, resource and fiscal planning, employee diversity and inclusion initiatives, and participates in group strategy decisions.  

This role will initially be embedded into Emerging Technologies Chief of Staff team, reporting to the Chief of Staff while you learn all the behind-the-scenes budget, headcount and operating procedures and processes to ensure that BET’s priorities can be achieved. In parallel, you will immediately serve as a trusted partner to the entire leadership team and partner with the central staff team, Human Resources (HR), Marketing, Business Development and Engineering teams. You will exercise and develop your operational and business management skills, partner with, and be able to support the business efficiently at any level. Responsibilities

Business operations and integration

 Drive strategic initiatives and provide thought leadership. Identify issues that impede business group success and provide solutions/recommendations. Identify opportunities to create cross-group collaboration and synergies. Orchestrate team design conversations and facilitate successful implementation of organizational plans. Demonstrate discretion and professionalism when working with LT on sensitive business and organizational issues. You should be highly capable at managing ambiguity and negotiating workable solutions.  

Maximizing/Extending the leader

 Leverage knowledge of the VP’s goals and business approach to ensure business activities are aligned with the objectives. Support the VP in one or more key business management areas (e.g., setting key goals, priorities, team culture and health and communications). Synthesize information into insights that inform business decisions, leveraging expertise to influence the leader and leadership team. Leverage people management/influence expertise to assist and represent the leader with as needed. Land organizational changes in partnership with VP and HR (e.g., employee data management, skilling plans etc.). 

Culture & people programs

Work closely with the VP, HR, and leadership team to identify, analyze, and develop strategies to improve organizational health. Partner with the Leaders and HR to drive MS Employee Signals action planning. Orchestrate team trainings and brownbag series to contribute to ongoing learning and development. Define, plan, and drive cross-team process improvements (e.g. team recognition, cultural events, retention strategies). You will drive and ensure a positive onboarding experience and continuous training programs for the organization.   

Business process and business planning

Lead and coordinate ROB and improve processes to run the line of business efficiently. You will work with the Chief of Staff and HR organization to coordinate aligned business processes and management control processes.  

Communications

Plan and execute VP’s communications strategy in partnership with key communications stakeholders. You will be accountable for vehicles and channels that support organizational strategic missions. Drive internal communications for team meetings and other internal communications at major milestones. Plan and manage team meetings including Town Halls, staff meetings, and manager meetings. Coordinate and manage the VP’s external communications for customer/partner engagements and all other speaking engagements, ensuring successful and impactful use of VP’s time.  

Special Projects

You will from time-to-time, design and deliver high-impact projects as needed to meet the changing business environment, ensuring the team is achieving its commitments. You will demonstrate successful project management, including work with strategy consultants, other external agencies, and a range of internal business partners (e.g. Chief of Staff team, Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA), Finance, Marketing, Business Development) on efforts that require hands-on experience across multiple functional disciplines and business organizations.​

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 6+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • ​​5+ years of experience in business management or program management, preferably with technology/software engineering teams

  • Proven effectiveness driving complex multi-stakeholder planning processes, problem solving, leading cross-team programs to desired results, and managing risk

  • Demonstrated organizational skills through your experience institutionalizing them across a team through process or system changes.

  • Ability to rapidly gain/build trust and confidence of stakeholders

  • Operate consistently, accurately with high integrity and efficiency.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, MS Office applications, and Business Intelligence applications such as Power BI, Analysis and reporting systems or tools.

  • Demonstrated cross-team collaboration, with proven ability to work across organizations and reporting boundaries to get things done

  • Excellent written and oral communication

Business Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $142,200 - $213,200 per year.
