EMPLOYMENT SECURITY DEPT Seasonal Farm Worker, Diversified Crop, Workers X 25 in Redmond, Washington
A Redmond nursery is hiring Farm Workers for seasonal work February 1, 2024, to November 1, 2024. Housing will be provided for workers that live outside the commuting area or distance.
Worker will care for trees in the nursery, work in nursery environment performing various job duties such as planting, potting, watering and filling up flats. Load/unload sod/growing materials onto/from truck. Transport trees and shrubs weighing up to 70 lbs. Worker will assist in planting and/or harvesting ornamental trees intended for wholesale market. Weeding, hoeing, cleaning and pruning tree. Other duties include repairing form buildings, installation, set up and move irrigation pipes and equipment, gardening and weeding. Preparing barns, draining fields, preparing land for planting, dropping stick in field, maintenance of tools and equipment and other work that is directly related.
Job Requirements
Must have a minimum of 1 month of experience in agricultural employment. Experience working in horticultural, or landscape industry is also acceptable.
Physically able to bend and stoop for long periods of time.
Able to stand on feet for long periods of time.
Physically able to meet and perform all other job specifications.
Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs. continuously throughout the workday.
Work in nursery when trees/shrubs are wet with dew/rain.
Able to work in conditions including light rain and temperatures ranging from 30 degrees to more than 100 degrees.
Exercise caution at all times to prevent bruising or breaking of nursery stock.
Ability to work full-time employment from February 1, 2024, to November 1, 2024.
* *Salary/Wage/Benefits $17.97 per hour. Housing will be provided for workers that are unable to return to residence at the end of the day.
Hours/Days/Schedule
Work schedule is Monday-Friday from 7:30am to 2:30pm and 5 hours on Saturday. with some overtime available. Shift starts and end times may vary depending upon weather and crops.
