Amazon SDE II, Kuiper Asset Configuration and Management Engineering in Redmond, Washington

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The Asset and Configuration Management Engineering team builds and maintains the software services responsible for tracking and managing critical information about Kuiper hardware and software assets throughout their life cycle. These services integrate across the Kuiper organization to help track, control, and manage asset configuration and operational status. We focus on the accuracy and timeliness of that data and to that end we build automated provisioning workflows that integrate across the organization, from manufacturing through on-orbit operations.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development of these services. You will work with a dynamic group of passionate engineers and collaborators across peer teams to identify customer needs and design novel solutions that meet their requirements. You will also be building out scalable and reliable automation to provision critical data and software for newly manufactured satellites.

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have strong organizational skills, able to work independently, juggle multiple tasks at once, and maintain professionalism under pressure. You should have deep knowledge of software engineering practices, understand how software and hardware systems interact, and can drive design and implementation of operational execution of objectives in complex systems. Familiarity with space systems is desired.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
