Microsoft Corporation Sales Compensation Implementation Manager in Redmond, Washington

The Worldwide Incentive Compensation (WWIC) team mission is to Enable Strategy, Motivate Sellers, and Reward Results. In pursuit of this mission the team designs and implements variable incentive-based compensation plans for sellers, sales leaders, and consultants across Microsoft.

The Sales Compensation Implementation Manager partners with the segment plan design lead to enable incentives that motivate seller behavior and drive the company's strategies. From the initial inception of the incentive, the Sales Compensation Implementation Manager discusses the requirements and runs assessments to determine the feasibility for launching the new plan in our systems. The implementation manager then configures the plan that enables other teams across WWIC to setup participants, produce quotas and determine payouts.

The Sales Compensation Implementation Manager partners with the Seller Experience, Sales Operations Excellence and Seller advocacy teams to ensure plans land appropriately through official documentation and guidance. Being proficient in their segment compensation, the Implementation Manager provides third tier support for complex seller questions.

The Sales Compensation Implementation Manager runs specific optimization projects across segments to achieve key milestones. Examples can include engineering portfolio, compensable metrics assessment , Role taxonomy alignment to compensation, Territory alignment to compensation, First mile excellence, Quota delivery alignment.

The ideal candidate has solid experience at program management, orchestrating activities across other teams to meet rigorous timelines. The ideal candidate has experience in compensation and/or financial systems, understands revenue streams, and the impact on sellers’ payouts. The candidate should also have a proven ability to work effectively in a large, cross-geography, cross-business, virtual team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Understand business strategy and plan design approach

  • Analyze plan feasibility by assessing financial sources and systems readiness.

  • Conduct compensable metric assessment to ensure governance and compliance requirements are met.

  • Ensure proper plan configuration for respective segment roles in our Internal systems.

  • Drive the plan exceptions review and setup.

  • Ensure segment plan health and manage tier 3 support for seller assignment issues.

  • Drive special Incentive programs implementation for incubation projects.

  • Manage revenue allocation exception requests working with segment/finance stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, or related field AND 5+ years experience in compensation, business management and operations, finance and analytics, human resources and people analytics, marketing, or sales strategy

  • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience working in a matrixed organization, preferably in the technology industry.

  • 1+ year(s) portfolio management experience.

  • Incentive Compensation Background - Prior incentive compensation experience is highly desirable.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of business including Senior leadership.

  • Effective planning & time management skills, ability to succeed in direct accountability and influence structures.

  • Efficient problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve conflict and exercise sound business judgement.

Sales Compensation IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
