King County Housing Authority Regional Maintenance Mechanic- Electrician (Redmond) in Redmond, Washington

Job Summary

This position is open until filled; however, to ensure consideration applications should be received by May 10th 2024. * * We are currently recruiting for an experienced and skilled journeyman level professional to maintain, service and repair the housing units as part of our North Regional Upgrade Crew based out of Redmond, Washington.  This position is represented by the Seattle King County Building Trades Council.    

This is journey level electrical work primarily upgrading and repairing individual apartment units in a variety of residential housing including mid-rise (3-5 stories), townhome and single-family homes. Work is on a renovation team of tradesmen refurbishing apartment units to "like new" condition. 

Electrical work includes rewiring circuits and panel upgrades to support arc fault breakers, GFI circuits, cove type heaters, inter-connected smoke detectors, etc. Work is primarily single phase within individual units; however, may require work on building panels and meter packs, community exterior/interior lighting, diagnosis of building HVAC and equipment systems and appliances, etc. Knowledge and experience with other trades is helpful to move overall project objectives including:

  • Carpentry
  • Plumbing
  • Painting
  • Responding to over-time emergency calls (as needed).

Essential Functions

The Regional Maintenance Mechanic- Electrician will perform a variety of skilled trades work that may include:

  • Upgrade electrical systems to meet current electrical code; replaces wiring, electrical panels, switches, outlets, meter packs, breakers, heaters, and lighting; troubleshooting existing circuits.
    • Must meet Washington State electrical licensing requirement if work requires.
  • Replacing and installing whole house fans, exhaust fans, and range hoods; replacing and installing ducting and mechanical fixtures.
  • Designs and carries out plans for electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical work orders; determines work requirements, materials, tools, and equipment needed; completes write up material lists for jobs and researches vendor, product, and costs; reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, specifications, and manuals.
  • Supports special project team and site staff as needed.  

     

Qualifications and Competencies

  • High School diploma or GED [AND]{.underline}
  • Journey Level ELO1 Commercial Electrician [AND]{.underline}
  • Considerable experience (3+ to 5 years) in construction and/or maintenance of residential buildings.   

*Equivalent combination of education and experience will be substituted on a year for year basis for experience qualification.  *

Thorough knowledge of:

  • Industry, organization, and departmental operating guidelines, best practices, ordinances and laws.
  • One or more of the following: carpentry, plumbing, painting & drywall, appliance, electrical, HVAC, Re-pinning locks, Window Glazing repairs and maintenance.

The ability to:

Make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; compute rates, ratios, and percentages; perform measurements.

Understand electrical plans, drawings, and schematics.

Communicate effectively in oral and written form and multitask.
