Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. The CO+I, Datacenter business is looking to fill the role of Regional Contracts Quality Director for Americas. The Contracts Quality director has a role in overseeing and advancing quality assurance onsite in construction projects. This leader will assess, monitor, and drive continuous improvement of General Contractor (GC) quality performance. Your work will directly impact the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-performing infrastructure while fostering collaboration across the region.
Responsibilities
Provide Quality Performance Leadership
Establish, implement and refine quality standards and frameworks to assess GC performance across construction projects
Develop KPIs and metrics to track GC adherence to quality requirements, excluding project schedules
Perform regular audits and site inspections to verify compliance with specifications, codes, and best practices.
Risk Mitigation and Continuous Improvement
Identify trends in GC caused quality issues and partner with GCs to resolve systematic challenges through root cause analysis
Proactively identify issues and implement corrective actions to minimize deviations from quality standards
Confirm coordination of key interface points with GC/Supplier/AE for seamless integration of project deliverables
Drive continuous improvement by leveraging data insights and lessons learned to refine processes and requirements
Stakeholder collaboration and Communication
Partner with internal teams (e.g. Engineering, Procurement, Construction Quality, and Claims) to align quality standards and expectations with project goals
Engage with GCs to foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and excellence in quality processes
Coordinate GC readiness audits and reviews relative to contractors work to prevent defects, reduce rework, and field service representative compliance
Communicate key findings, progress updates, and risk mitigation strategies to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
Process Optimization
Oversee the development and deployment of tools and processes that streamline quality assessments and documentation
Monitor the adoption of quality frameworks and ensuring compliance with organizational objectives
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experience
OR equivalent experience.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experience
o OR equivalent experience.
· 12+ years experience working on data center projects.
- Professional certifications in Quality Management, Construction, or Risk Management (e.g. PMP, CQE)
Construction Project Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $299,400 per year.
