Research, design, develop, or test computer or computer-related equipment for Microsoft technologies. Research and develop solutions to problems in the field of computer hardware and software, and engage in research that yields new insights, theories, and analyses. Evaluate data, software, algorithms, and prototypes that advance state-of-the-art technology. Create tools and documentation for end-users, which may include educational materials, trainings, standard operating procedures [SOPs]. Research and suggest hardware or system specifications as necessary to escalate issues and develop or implement safety standards. Perform device simulations, analyze data, and contribute to the design and improvement of qubits. Collaborate with experimentalists and provide guidance for qubit measurement and interpretation. Requires international travel up to 25%. Telecommuting permitted less than 50% per week within same geographic location as assigned Microsoft office location.

Requirements:

-Education: Master's or foreign equivalent degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.

-Specific Skills: This position requires Education or Experience in each of the following: Python; Quantum physics - theory and experimental techniques; Qubit readout and control circuits; Cryogenic testing and instrumentation; MATLAB -- data acquisition and analysis; and RF measurement instrumentation.

-Requires international travel up to 25%.

-Telecommuting permitted less than 50% per week within same geographic location as assigned Microsoft office location.

Pay Range and Benefits Information: The offered base pay range for this specific position (EG12450897), in Redmond, WA, is $187,000 to $217,000 per year.

Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.?  

At Microsoft certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus, and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
