Microsoft Corporation Quality Engineer II - Minecraft in Redmond, Washington

Xbox Studios Quality is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer professional with a growth mindset to help lead the quality efforts across broad portions of Minecraft. In this role you will be accountable for partnering with Mojang Studios feature teams in day-to-day efforts, including the planning and execution on a modern and innovative quality strategy. You will interact with multidisciplinary leads from the studio to help shape the quality of the product. Additionally, you will leverage your experience to increase team efficiency, influence feature quality strategy, and to influence our culture of quality with process and technology.

As a member of Xbox Studios Quality, you will also be part of a larger community of Quality Analysts and Engineers, Software Engineers, and Data Scientists supporting proactive and reactive quality for world class products across Xbox Studios.

Responsibilities

  • Own thequality strategy for key features and functionality in the Minecraft franchise.

  • Make decisions and tradeoffs around day-to-day team execution and reactionary work, balancing against investments in efficiency and the future.

  • Monitor, summarize, and effectively communicate the quality of the product, state of quality efforts, and team strategy to leadership through conversations, reports, and formal presentations.

  • Anticipateteam needs 3-6 months into the future and coordinate team planning accordingly.

  • Coordinate priorities across manual testing, data, and software engineering teams to increase the immediate impact of shared deliverables.

  • Coach and mentor junior team members.

  • Provide feedback to grow the team’s strategic capabilities.

  • Be a trusted member of the product triage team.

  • Help build and foster a Quality mindset and culture on our team, and with our partners.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience shipping software products, preferably games.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Practical, reliable, and efficient you excel at turning ideas into actions, by organizing and tracking work to completion.

  • You notice the details, and you’re painstaking, and conscientious in your efforts to build solutions.

  • You have been responsible for the quality of large or complexfeatureover a full ship cycle.

  • Experienced using test strategies that incorporate multiple methodologies, including data and automation usage.

  • Understandingof telemetry implementation and how to design effective health measures and indicators for quality.

  • Experience using different styles of automation.

  • Experience with agile game development.

  • Experience creating presentations and delivering them to lead\manager level groups.
