Microsoft Philanthropies team seeks a full-time Curriculum, Training, and Instruction (CTI) PM to help build and scale TEALS – a visionary program that is expanding access to quality computer science courses in high schools across the U.S.
TEALS recruits, trains and places high-tech industry volunteers with knowledge and passion for computer science to teach Introductory and Advanced Placement Computer Science courses in high schools with existing classroom teachers. The program builds CS teacher capacity and CS program with our partner schools and districts. The TEALS program is growing rapidly, roughly doubling the number of schools and students served each year. TEALS is an industry-wide, volunteer and community driven initiative supported by Microsoft Philanthropies. This year, TEALS is partnered with 500 high schools in 29 states working with 1,400+ volunteers from across industry and serving approximately 12,000 high school students.
In partnership with the Curriculum PM, the Field PM and TEALS Leadership, the TEALS CTI PM is responsible for developing, planning, and successful implementation of programmatic aspects of the TEALS program including curriculum, training, student engagement, and the rural and distance program. The CTI PM will evaluate ever evolving needs of the TEALS program, set annual school year program goals and strategy, as well ensuring program objectives are met.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY TASKS:
The CTI PM is responsible for the following areas of the TEALS program, including, but not limited to:
Curriculum : Development, evaluation, maintenance, and evolution of a relevant, inclusive and rigorous CS curriculum for our students. Develop and maintain partnership with curriculum and professional development partners.
Staff training : Development and training of internal TEALS staff on aspects of curriculum and training that they support.
Training and instruction : Ensure success of our volunteers and classroom teachers in the classroom. Foster high student achievement in the classroom through our volunteers and teachers training program, and the application of good Pedagogical Content Knowledge in CS teaching.
Rural and distance : Growth and implementation of the rural and distance learning program to equal the successes of the in-person model, and to meet the needs of 25% of TEALS partner schools.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Leadership and project management skills for overseeing multiple projects and stakeholders with the ability to successfully deliver against multiple and concurrent projects and timelines.
Ability to engage with highly technical individuals and demonstrate a clear understanding of technology industry, including industry growth challenges and CS education initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to create innovative computer science curriculum.
Ability to deliver training to professionals utilizing a variety of instructional methods.
Critical understanding of pedagogy and student instruction standards.
Ability to think critically and develop clear curriculum and training materials to diverse audiences.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and team-building skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work with a diverse staff at all levels of the organization.
Ability to process and protect confidential information.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Background in Computer Science with either a major, minor, or work experience.
Background in Education with either a major, minor, or work experience.
Experience teaching computer science in a high school setting.
Experience with instruction and training methodologies.
Strong understanding of the technology industry.
Demonstrated ability to manage and support a diverse and successful team made up of staff from different backgrounds.
