We are looking for a Product Manager 2 - Linux to join our team! Our group is responsible for the Linux operating systems that power Azure – from VMs and containers, to bare metal, and silicon – in the cloud and at the edge. We work closely with upstream communities, with software and hardware vendors, OEMs, Linux distribution partners, and with hundreds of customers inside and outside Microsoft to create and operate OS platforms and products with the highest security, hardware-accelerated performance, and innovation agility. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the Azure Linux Security effort, collaborating and coordinating with internal teams like MSRC as well as external partners and vendors to help keep Azure Linux secure. You will work closely with engineering, product management, researchers across the company to drive security outcomes customers can trust - including evaluation and integration of various supply chain security frameworks such as SLSA,and S2C2F, and reporting frameworks such CSAF and VEX.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, track, and provide updates for security related workstreams for Azure Linux, including:

  • CVE handling and SLA/SLO adherence.

  • Code ingestion and secure supply chain coordination efforts

  • Azure Linux security incident response

  • Be the primary security point of contact for internal teams using Azure Linux

  • Collaborate with MSRC for reporting improvements and new workflows, including collaboration with external security vendors and partners for Azure Linux interests

  • Provide guidance and prioritization for security improvements related to development such as static analysis, and fuzzing with input from developers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 2+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software developmento OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience as a program or product manager having seen a program or project from inception to delivery.

  • Experience in evaluating the security hygiene of source codebases and security frameworks

  • OR equivalent Linux security experience

  • Experience working with open source communities in a program or product manager role.

  • Other Requirements:

  • Cloud Background check: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software developmento OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience using Linux, kubernetes, or working with other open source communities.

  • Experience with effective collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.

  • Knowledge of CVE and vulnerability workflows, security disclosure best practices, or experience working with open source security fundamentals.Product Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
