We are seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineering Manager to join the Analytics Team within the Dataverse Organization! This is an exciting opportunity to work on something highly strategic at Microsoft. Microsoft's Dataverse is the platform to securely store an enormous amount of data in a cost efficient, scalable and easily manageable way. Our team develops an analytics platform and a suite of microservices that deliver near real-time insights into data usage, offering valuable information to our customers. You will be a part of a team of engineers who thrive on solving complex problems at scale while doing it with impeccable quality.

The Analytics Team provides a highly scalable, secure, and compliant platform for ingesting, processing, and presenting data to Dataverse customers. We manage large volumes of data not only from transactional systems of record but also from the surrounding world. With a significant amount of customer data managed through Microsoft’s products and services—both cloud-based and on-premises—our analytics platform enables customers to gain valuable insights and make informed decisions for their businesses.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineering Manager with experience in managing all aspects of multi-tenant services. You will have a ability to design components meticulously, handle errors effectively, and write clean, well-factored code with robust testing and high maintainability.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the team in design, development and optimization of standardized frameworks and pipelines for ingestion and consumption of data at a very high scale.

  • Ensuring services and processes meet security, privacy, and accessibility standards, demonstrating compliance.

  • Coordinating project and release plans with stakeholders, breaking down long-term visions into milestones and guiding resource management.

  • Leading data collection and analysis to refine products and make informed engineering decisions.

  • Integrating and reviews telemetry data to ensure system performance and reliability, creating dashboards and notifications.

  • Working with various engineering teams and drive clarity, generate energy and deliver result.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of experience in people management

  • Experience in developing microservices and shipping at scale

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
