Microsoft Corporation Principal Software Engineering Manager in Redmond, Washington

The Office Product Group (OPG) is looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineering Manager to lead key initiatives for Loop within the Office Apps, Services, and Intelligence at Scale Team (OASIS). This team owns the Office Web Platform, multiple Loop Services, and drives Service Excellence initiatives across the entire fleet of OPG Services in partnership with the rest of Microsoft 365 and Azure. Office for the web is the key service at the center of the Office strategy for service-based web productivity and intelligence.

The OASIS team is looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineering Manager to lead key initiatives for Loop Services and Copilot integrations. This manager will lead a team of developers to build and deliver a rich set of features that will be consumed by various Loop canvases and Office Apps.

Responsibilities

You will lead a team of engineers driving and leveraging a world-class AI platform that meets the scale demands for Office Web Apps and services - enabling real time collaboration, identity, and productivity across the Office suite and endpoints. Your impact will be felt by hundreds of engineers that rely on and integrate with the platform and technologies. These investments of your team are crucial for continuing to scale in the new world of Copilot and user productivity.

  • Driving the strategy and execution for the team working with your Program Manager and partner teams across Office and Microsoft.

  • Lead a high performing group of engineers within OASIS, as well as actively recruit and build out a engineering team with a diverse and inclusive culture.

  • Coach leaders and engineers within the team.

  • Be an active member of OASIS Leadership Team which drives shared platform, services, and components for Office as well as our diversity and inclusion priorities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of leadership experience managing teams with engineering deliverables.

  • 2+ Experience managing complex services at scale.

  • Proficient working with AI at scale.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years people management experience.

  • 10+ years of software development experience

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
