Under the umbrella of Microsoft FastTrack, we guide customers, partners and industry influencers to healthy product usage through a variety of engagement methods including developing user experiences in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, direct customer engagements, digital targeting and webinars, product & usage feedback and accelerator solutions that will speed their enablement of and satisfaction with Microsoft 365. This is a role that has diverse projects and requires a love of leading through ambiguity, learning, people and developing code on a variety of technologies.

The person who will succeed in this role will have a passion for customer, end user and partner experiences, as well as empathy for the onboarding and usage experience of our customers and deep technical acumen across Microsoft 365 services including but not limited to Copilot, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive, Microsoft Viva and more.  This Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for developing onboarding and adoption user experiences centered on automating the onboarding and adoption experiences of all M365 products for 1+ seat customers, partners, and internal stakeholders. You will be interacting & supporting product makers in product management, external community leaders and Microsoft Partners, as well as business users and influencers who are dedicated to Microsoft cloud productivity software.  In this role you will manage a significant number of vendors to achieve these outcomes rapidly.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of Microsoft 365 experiences centered on improving the customer experience onboarding and adopting all M365 products, with a primary focus on Copilot and security products. This work will be in close partnership with all M365 engineering teams, Copilot for Microsoft 365, Copilot Studio and connected experiences across Microsoft 365 in partnership with divisions across Microsoft.     

  • Coordinate internal and external release of products to drive quarter over quarter growth and reducing Microsoft costs to implement scale partner and customer experiences.

  • Influence and support community presence at flagship and community produced events. 

  • Design and maintain impact data and automation on engineering solutions illustrating efficacy of all engineering solutions.

  • Partner with other engineering managers who drive product releases across Microsoft and ensure a unified customer experience for onboarding and adoption.  

  • Expected travel to leadership offsites (domestic and international) up to 25% of overall work time.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, or related field AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product engineering/development, data analysis, and technical engineering experience with coding in languages with one or more of the following, C#, React, Typescript, Python, SQL Server, Entra Authentication, API development, Azure, Azure VAS, Vectra, and ML/AI.

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years’ experience working with backlog & product management tools.

  • 1+ years’ experience in one or more technologies, AI, Copilot, or prompt engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

  • OR related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript.

  • 5+ years working with Microsoft 365 Admin Center, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Microsoft 365 Groups and other collaboration solutions from Microsoft.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
