We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer focused on the Teams platform with a focus on AI to help design our next-generation AI Extensibility Platform within Microsoft Teams & M365.

This role involves being part of an exciting journey in redefining workplace productivity solutions, that scale to our worldwide user base, across industry verticals and multitude of platforms and devices. In this position, you will be empowered to make product-wide technical decisions and directly impact the outcomes for this flagship product, working in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Establish long term technical strategy and direction for key Platform Initiatives. 

  • Create and improve architecture designs for complex end to end scenarios that involve multiple teams and services. 

  • Drive the engineering culture to strive for a scalable architecture, operational excellence, experimentation driven culture, growth mindset, and being customer obsessed. 

  • Influence, lead, and collaborate effectively across leadership, teams, and organizations to drive outcomes – the scope here is company-wide. 

  • Collaborate with Product teams to make sure we address key customer needs and put customer feedback in center of product design 

  • Need to operate effectively amongst executive leadership and executive stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 8+ years of experience focused on advanced software development and architecture, building commercial-grade, high-availability services.

  • 8+ years of experience driving software platform architecture projects from both a technical and functional perspective. Guiding complex projects from planning through execution and service operations.

Other or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

  • OR related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,

  • OR Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 12+ years of experience focused on advanced software development and architecture, building commercial-grade, high-availability services.

  • 12+ years of experience driving software platform architecture projects from both a technical and functional perspective. Guiding complex projects from planning through execution and service operations.

  • Communication skills with a growth mindset.

  • Demonstrated commitment to software engineering excellence.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a history of navigating significant technical challenges, emphasizing a continuous release mindset and service operation in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to lead in a fast-paced, customer focused, and data-driven environment.

  • A decisive, self-directed, collaborative, and innovative approach to projects.

Software Engineering IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
