Microsoft Corporation Principal Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington

Our team is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join us as we create and deliver mission critical, secure and available, huge scale identity products. In this role, you will demonstrate end-to-end ownership of Microsoft's consumer identity and access management products, Azure Active Directory B2C and our recently launched Entra External ID. You'll work directly with customers and our cross-functional internal partners to define the features and technologies that delight users while ensuring their identity is secure. You'll define architecture and evangelize it with other teams throughout the Entra organization, and to our leadership. You'll provide technical leadership to engineers within our team, role modeling developer excellence through your designs, code, and operations. You'll work with world class engineers that have deep technical expertise, customer insights, and a clear point of view that comes from first-hand, very large-scale experience. Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, delivering, and operating mission critical Identity services.

  • Writing world-class, high quality, secure code that sets a high bar for the engineers around you.

  • Setting architectural direction within our team and aligning direction across the Identity organization.

  • Understanding and representing the customer voice in product design, engineering, and operations.

  • Communicating your ideas one on one, in meetings, and in writing up to the VP (Vice President) level.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years experience collaborating and influencing technology decisions across large organizations

  • 3+ years presenting technical direction to VP (Vice President) level and above

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
