Within Employee Experience, Infrastructure & Engineering Services (IES) is the team that engineers, deploys, and manages the Microsoft infrastructure. We deliver industry leading infrastructure solutions that address Microsoft business needs at a global scale. As a Service Engineering Manager your focus will be to lead the team of Service Engineers responsible for the global datacenter compute/storage infrastructure for highly protected environments for some of the most mission critical services. You will be responsible for oversight of daily operations and maintenance of these critical services as well as creation of strategies and deployment of new technologies supporting the service areas in the future. A very strong understanding of security technologies and service models that support datacenter infrastructure service areas will be critical to ensure these foundational services are architected, designed, deployed, and maintained at a high standard.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and management of a team of service engineers in support of dedicated enterprise infrastructure services and applications.

  • Drive prioritization and implementation of automation and tooling solutions to ensure consistent processes are performed with a higher level of accuracy and reduced defects in the design, deployment, monitoring, and management of the compute & storage infrastructure.

  • Enable the team for precision alerting, speed in triage, and efficiency in response. Drive continuous improvement into the service, process, and technology through analysis and solution design.

  • Lead and/or manage technical responses during critical infrastructure service incidents

  • Support a 24x7 live site support model for the services team

  • Accountable for operational performance including real-time SLA management, development of data driven business metrics, escalation, and communication with internal teams, external vendors, and carriers.

  • Champion security, compliance, reliability, and availability through participation in service health reviews and cross-team strategic/service alignment

  • Travel -0%-10%, domestic

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Compute & Storage Infrastructure or Infrastructure Service Management with demonstrated ability for end-to-end service compliance, quality, and customer satisfaction

  • 5+ years of proven Experience with building, support and observing large-scale distributed systems/services/infrastructure.

  • 5+ years of Experience handling Linux and Windows Systems at very large scale

  • 3+ coding experience in c#, Python, powershell or other equivalent

  • 3+ years’ experience working with security technology, cryptographic implementations, and utilization/consumption reporting for infrastructure systems.

  • Experience of creating and defining processes to ensure our platform maintains agreed SLO's

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent alternative education, skills, and/or practical IT work experience is required.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Preferred experience in managing lean 24X7 Service Engineering team.

  • Strong cross-organizational collaboration and partnership skills.

  • Track record of hiring and building a high performing, cohesive team where diversity is valued.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with senior executives and customers. Strong experience in influencing others without authority.

  • Working experience across cloud and hardware platforms from Azure, HPE Servers & Storage, Fibre Channel switches, and DellEMC Storage Platforms

  • Security certifications such as, but not limited to, CISSP, CISM, GSLC, GCIH, GCED, GCWN, CEH are a plus

  • KPI driven, proactive and motivated for continuous improvement, adaptation, reflection, and growth.

  • Experience building services in Azure using Azure Automation, hybrid cloud/on-prem services is a plus.

  • Experience of designing and operating Microsoft Azure Stack HCI Or HCI

  • Experience with Microsoft Virtualization Technology & Microsoft System Center Tooling family: SCCM, SCOM, SCVMM

  • Experience with Third Party Technologies: SevOne, Ansible, Splunk, ERPM (JIT, Password Vault), Cert Management (HGS/HSM)
