We are hiring a Principal Program Manager, Hardware Fleet Engineering.

As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow, the ability to deploy new offerings and HW infrastructure on time, at high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for a Principal Program Manager with a passion for customer focused solutions, insight, and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead and be accountable for Key Fleet Health metrics with high visibility and a customer facing impact.

• Identify top issues and provide clear committed execution plan.

• Define project scope, goals, and deliverables, and managing the project timeline, budget, and resources.

• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and status reports, and communicate project status to stakeholders and management.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to identify customer requirements, risks, and dependencies.

• Identify, drive execution and E2E verification plans to make and meet business commitments.

• Collaborate with hardware, firmware and software teams to architect and build highly scalable and reliable solutions for fleet uptime initiatives.

• Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure systems meet significant quality, reliability, and service level requirements for a cloud environment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

• OR equivalent experience.

• 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

• 3+ years technical background in cloud computing, modern server architecture, SoC architecture

Other Qualifications:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

Preferred Qualifications :

• 10+ years of experience of technical leadership as a Program or Product manager or software engineer, platform architect or validation architect or a lead system/chief engineer or equivalent industry experience.

• Capable of technical deep dives into platform design, verification flows, operating systems, networking, and storage.

• Customer engineering, portfolio management and validation experience

• Technical background in cloud compute (specifically virtual machine interupt, drive reboot)

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
