The Group: M365 Core builds the infrastructure, platforms, AI/ML and communications backbone for Microsoft 365. Our mission is to build a trusted platform that enables us, and our 3rd party partners, to create both people and group-centered productivity experiences. We do this by bringing together the entire breadth of our customers’ data assets with personalized user information to create a compliant and agile platform that democratizes the ability for developers to build intelligent M365 applications.
The Team: M365 Core Ecosystem team is the team that builds: 1. the Substrate Ecosystem Service Platform that powers core productivity data for Exchange Online and Microsoft Graph, like mail, calendar, contacts, people, and tasks; and the APIs exposing those capabilities. 2. The Microsoft Graph developer experiences, documentation, tooling and SDKs. And 3. We also drive the strategy for coherence, growth and security of the Microsoft 365 platform, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams all across Microsoft to realize the opportunity for Microsoft and the 3 rd party ecosystem that builds high value applications for our common customers.
The Role: This is a highly technical role leading the Substrate Ecosystem Service Platform PM team. Your team manages a broad portfolio of high scale / mission critical services that drive some of our largest Microsoft products, like Outlook, Teams and SharePoint, as well as major 3 rd party vendors. These services get trillions of calls daily and are consumed by hundreds of millions of customers globally. You will help drive evolution of the platform to scale to meet the business needs for the next 10 to 20 years.
Some of the items within your portfolio include. 1. Our Exchange REST APIs which are directly consumed by Microsoft products and 3 rd party developers. 2. Exchange Online including IMAP, POP, MAPI, EAS, and EWS protocol services. 3. Evolution of our Substrate platform moving from a monolithic to microservice based architecture. 4. Our Basic Authentication deprecation effort to secure over 100 million users by moving them to modern security protocols. 5. Our effort to enable more of our internal teams to surface their workloads on Microsoft Graph.
As the leader of this team, you will drive the vision and strategy across your portfolio and sell our big bets to our executives ensuring that we have their support. You and your team will engage directly with some of our largest internal / external partners and customers to understand their requirements and triage their issues. A key part of the role will be collaborating with various internal teams including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Azure AD, and the .NET team. 15 years of industry experience (software, cloud services)
10 years of Product / Program management experience designing and shipping robust and high scale APIs
5 years of leading teams with 5-10 reports
Demonstrated experience building developer platforms
Experience building secure APIs and working with legacy and modern authentication protocols
Experience moving services from monolithic to a microservice architecture
Experience working across distributed teams
Bachelors degree in computer science or similar technical field
Experience working with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
