Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.
We are the Security and Compliances (S&C) team, and our mission is to bring the most innovative security portfolios to Azure database services so customers can deploy all their workloads securely and with minimal initial configuration on-prem, in the cloud, and in between, wherever their business takes them.
We focus on:
Developing and shipping industry-leading, differentiated security capabilities such as Always Encrypted or SQL ledger.
Driving consistency in the security portfolio across our services.
Incorporating the latest A.I. based techniques into security features to make securing databases more intuitive for our customers and ultimately more effective.
Integrating with the latest foundational technologies provided by our partner teams such as Azure Key Vault for key management, Entra for modern authentication, or Microsoft Purview for data governance.

Responsibilities
Define and ship new features and capabilities to strengthen the security and compliance portfolio of database offerings and improve the security of our services.
Evangelize the security capabilities of our services through workshops, conference presentations, as well as on social media channels.
Help customers develop proof-of-concept implementations to assess the security posture of our services.
Assess and evaluate emerging trends in IT security, information protection, data governance, and A.I. to educate our team.

Qualifications
Required /Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications
Professional experience with cryptography, data governance solutions, threat modelling, or vulnerability assessments.
Proven experience defining enterprise security strategies for cloud adoption
Experience translating deep technical concepts in a way anyone can understand
Skilled communicator, both written and verbal.
Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
