Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll lead a multi-disciplinary team and will drive Design and Research for Azure’s central Design System (web) and Azure Mobile Apps (iOS and Android). From concept to launch, your leadership will enable collaboration across disciplines and product groups. You are an expert in design process, able to adapt your communication style to influence, and have the capacity to maintain a big picture view while also enthusiastic to contribute to help your team grow and learn. Success for this role will be measured by your ability to build and support the team to improve key metrics for customers across the globe and deliver a pipeline of high-quality design improvements across a suite of related product areas. You’ll accomplish this through leadership of a team and by collaborating across a diverse set of disciplines.   • Lead a multidisciplinary UX organization, building relationships with key stakeholders while leading the organization to deliver clear objectives, goals, and priorities that you will define.

  • Expertly partner with key partners both within Azure and across Microsoft, to maintain alignment, ensure knowledge and information sharing and drive meaningful outcomes for the organization.

  • Explore new, inventive ways to improve organizational health, embody and advance the growth mindset, and drive the continued evolution and progress of the diversity and inclusion mission.

  • Evaluate and hire multi-disciplinary talent to build and grow the team

  • Creating an invigorating and positive work environment and culture

  • Drive deep engagements with product teams

  • Monitor and hold product teams accountable to recommendations, insights, and design patterns

  • Represent your team in executive & product reviews

  • Creating guidelines, best practices, and repeatable design patterns that contribute to the success of the product groups you support.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years' experience building, leading, and supporting high-performing distributed teams

  • 5+ years’ experience in Azure or other public cloud experience (AWS, GCP, etc.) preferred

  • Comprehensive understanding of Design and Research workflows

  • Expertise building scalable partner engagement processes and educating, partnering, & influencing product teams

  • High situational awareness and emotional intelligence coupled with excellent networking and interpersonal skills for collaborating across multiple organizations, teams, and professional levels.

  • Experience leading and executing simultaneous projects in a complex organizational environment

  • Bias for action and influence across non-direct reporting teams.

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, start-up team environment where you’ll be expected to wear multiple hats and move frequently between projects.

  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines, while maintaining excellent communication.
