The right leader will guide this team to deliver data engineering tools and services that provide insights into customer behavior and needs, to answer questions, inspire ideas, and identify opportunities for growth. The team embraces and defends our customer’s privacy rights while providing business critical views of global web browser behaviors across hundreds of millions of devices on a daily basis.

As the General Engineering Manager of this team, you will partner with peer data teams across the company and across the globe to leverage the latest in Open Source technology, as well as internally developed solutions to create scalable and efficient data solutions.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a team of 25+ engineers to deliver scalable and efficient data systems and services for Microsoft Edge.

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership: data and software architecture, design, code reviews, development, quality assurance and live site management.

  • Protect the privacy rights of our customers by maintaining compliance with Microsoft data policies as well as GDPR and other regulatory requirements.

  • Drive modern engineering practices such as continuous integration/continuous delivery, unit testing, automated deployments with integrated quality gates.

  • Collaborate with teams across Edge and across the company in Office, Windows, Bing, and MSN.

  • Hire, retain and grow top talent.

  • Foster a healthy and inclusive team environment.

  • Be a mentor for the people on your team and help them grow.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience as an engineering manager, or a technical lead with a passion for coaching and mentoring others.

  • 10+ years of experience building commercial grade software, with much of that experience in a large scale, high availability service.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in driving complex, scalable data engineering projects would be desirable.

  • Experience with relevant data tools and platforms such as SQL, COSMOS, Presto, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Explorer, PowerBI, Redash would be desirable.

  • Experience with building cloud services, data analytics, and the ability to translate high-level technical requirements through all the levels of the software stack is preferred.
