The Product Release and Security Services (PRSS) engineering team manages a portfolio of services critical to Microsoft’s foundation of Trust. Code signing, anti-malware scanning, Microsoft Public Key Infrastructure (MSPKI), to name a few. Our unique engineering challenge is scale (billions of files processed per month), diversity of workloads (drivers to 4k AAA games), security (physical and logical), and compliance (WebTrust). We are running some of the highest security services and environments at Microsoft.

We are looking for a Principal Engineering Leader to lead a global team responsible for designing, building, and running security and compute services. Services include physical and virtual compute, private identities, domain controls, group policy, code integrity, Just in Time (JIT) access, Certificate Authorities (CAs), certificate management, Domain Name Servers (DNS), secure imaging, and many more.


  • Lead an inclusive global team of security engineers

  • Coach and grow team members

  • Design, implement, and run large scale secure topology across multiple regions

  • Design, develop, and operate security services both self-hosted and in Azure

  • Drive consistency, reliability, security, and performance across large environments with a service-centric approach

  • Analyze telemetry to identify and address points of failure

  • Manage security Quality of Service (QoS) SLI/SLO to service requirements

  • Lead effective Change, Incident, and Problem Management processes

  • Provide security technical leadership

  • Expertise in forecasting, planning, estimating, prioritizing

  • Communicate complex concepts/incidents to broad audiences including executive communication



  • BS in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer or equivalent experience

  • 6+ years experience as an engineering people manager, or a technical lead with a passion for coaching and mentoring others

  • 8+ years experience with security, network, or compute engineering hosting internet scale services

  • Experience designing, analyzing and running large-scale distributed systems

  • Experience working in a mature DevOps, SRE, or Modern Engineering organization supporting internet/hyperscale services

  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active or prior U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance

  • Experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, domain controllers, and security

  • PKI/Cryptography/Certificate Management experience

  • Practical experience with WebTrust, NIST, FIPS, CSF, ICS standards
