Microsoft Copilot Studio is our comprehensive conversational AI (artificial intelligence) platform that lets its customers create conversational and autonomous agents using natural language or a graphical interface. Copilot Studio makes it simple to design, test, and deploy solutions tailored to its customers’ industry, company, department, or role, whether they need agents for internal or external use cases.
We are looking for a Principal Architect to join our team.
The individual in this role will bring experience in engineering, product development, data science, customer success, and strategy in advancing critical technical and product initiatives, providing expert technical guidance, understanding and articulating customer needs, analyzing industry and competitive landscapes, and developing strategic documentation.
This role will play a crucial role in shaping the Copilot Studio AI team’s direction in Machine learning, Generative AI model fine-tuning, Agent creation and deployment, AI infrastructure, Experimentation, and Platform scaling. This position involves close collaboration with product managers, software engineers, and applied AI scientists across Microsoft Copilot Studio, Business & Industry Copilot, and Microsoft's broader AI communities.

Responsibilities
Proactively learning and understanding emerging generative AI and other AI technologies to help Microsoft Copilot Studio AI organization gain deeper insights into customer needs, industry trends, and the competitive landscape.
Serving as a trusted strategic and technical advisor to the Microsoft Copilot Studio AI leadership team, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise.
Integrating product and business perspectives to identify and prioritize future investments, shaping the team’s next “big AI technology bet” and influencing broader AI product development communities within Microsoft’s product and engineering groups.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams across Microsoft Copilot Studio and other Microsoft AI organizations, including product, engineering, architecture, and applied science. This includes exploring, prototyping, and validating technologies, ensuring product-market fit, and driving seamless execution from concept to delivery.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in startup environments, particularly as a founder or early-stage leader.
Technical expertise, including a deep understanding of cloud computing, edge technologies, machine learning, generative AI, and data analytics.
Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
