P ortfolio Analyst - Renewables

Microsoft is looking for a Portfolio Analyst to join the Renewable Energy Team within the Cloud Operations + Innovation Organization. In this position, you will be responsible for administering a large portfolio of renewable energy contracts in support of Microsoft’s carbon neutral and environmental justice goals. You will join a high impact team and gain a wide range of exposure to global energy markets.

Ideally you will have an interest in wholesale renewable energy contracts, fostering strategic commercial relationships, , and an interest in developing analytical skills to deliver results with an unwavering commitment to justice and equity.   • This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.

  • Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

  • This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to50%.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Renewable Energy Asset Managers to facilitate key commercial relationships with renewable energy suppliers in a variety of Global markets

  • Onboard new contracts at execution into an asset management platform and develop commercial relationships with suppliers

  • Support Asset Management in tracking contract deliverables including but not limited to environmental attribute certificate delivery/retirement in accordance with contract provisions and maintain supporting documentation for audit, progress documentation for projects under construction

  • Ensure compliance with relevant local regulatory requirements

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate information is shared on a timely basis with legal, tax, accounting, and finance

  • Support contract settlements and implement tools for independent verification to ensure accurate invoices and timely payments

  • Provide support for contract negotiations with actionable feedback on vendor performance and portfolio risks and opportunities

  • Support the development of a platform of analytical and management tools to optimize the renewable energy portfolio

  • Supporting tracking environmental justice outcomes. Develop subject matter expertise in community-led approaches to the clean energy transition in collaboration with environmental justice staff.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 2+ years experience (including internships) in Data Science/Analytics, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain, and/or Operations

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in the energy sector with exposure to renewable energy and wholesale and/or retail power markets

  • 2+ years of experience with renewable energy asset management and Power Purchase Agreement management

  • Broad technical understanding of energy systems and renewable energy technologies, and ability to assess new renewable energy technologies and complementary technologies to identify new opportunities

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver meaningful business results with minimal supervision

  • General business and financial acumen and substantive evidence of customer-service orientation

  • Communications skills (written, verbal and presentation)

  • Proactive team player with high emotional intelligence capable of adapting to ambiguous environments with cross-group collaboration and problem-solving abilities

  • Growth mindset with problem-solving skills

Sourcing and Category Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $75,100 - $148,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $98,800 - $163,300 per year.
