Required Skills:

Optical Scientist Responsibilities:

  1. Explore the vast design space available for AR and VR optical systems through design and prototyping using novel and conventional techniques and components.

  2. Develop and analyze system and subsystem components that are specified to meet the needs of advanced AR and VR products.

  3. Perform detailed system level analysis such as tolerancing, optical performance, size, weight, and power to predict system performance.

  4. Work with the internal mass production team to drive mature optical systems towards productization.

  5. Collaborate with internal research teams for adoption of mature technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Requires a Master’s degree in Optical Sciences, Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and five years of work experience in the job offered or in an optical-or photonic-related occupation. Requires five years of experience in the following:

  2. Applied research and/or product development of optics or photonic systems.

  3. Optical systems requiring any combination of the following: imaging, illumination, physical optics, stray light analysis, radiometry, photometry, holography, or nano-optics.

  4. Maturing optical systems from proof-of-concept to early low volume prototypes or taking own design into production.

  5. Optical design, modeling methods, and tools for imaging and illumination systems.

  6. Working with state-of-the-art display technologies such as liquid crystal displays and organic light emitting diode displays.

  7. Collaborating in a cross-functional environment to bring together an entire system from concept to pre-mass production maturity.

Public Compensation:

$215,136/year to $240,240/year + bonus + equity + benefits
