Job Description

Summary:

The main function of a mechanical engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. A typical mechanical engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings and read and interpret blueprints.

Job Responsibilities:

Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices.

Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects.

Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew.

Oversee installation, operation, maintenance and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.

Implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.

Duties they will be responsible for:

Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to design, manufacture, and assemble prototypes of soft

wearable electronic devices

Apply sound engineering and design principles for manufacturing of novel sensor integrations in wearable

electronics

Communicate with vendors on DFM and Manufacturing of designs for prototype builds

Collaborate with researchers and engineers to rapidly prototype hardware solutions, iterate, and run

experiments.

Skills and Requirements

BS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience

3+ years of experience in building hardware prototypes, preferably in wearable consumer electronics, or a

similar field

Knowledge of the design process for high-volume consumer products from concept to manufacturing

Average or higher experience with CAD modeling such as Solidworks, Creo, etc. Siemens NX preferred.

Physical prototyping experience

Experience with FPC/PCB design

Demonstrated experience with Design for injection molding and 3D printing

Plastic and metal Part design & sourcing

3D modeling Knowledge of Camera integration, Sensor Integration, Elastomer design, Haptic devices, or Textile

Manufacturing.

Experience developing wearable consumer electronics

Hands-on prototyping with molding and casting of elastomers or industrial processes such as Liquid

Injection Molding.

Experience collaborating and communicating effectively on multi-disciplinary teams

Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Elastomer, textile, haptic, optical part design null
