Job Description: Summary Plans, organizes, and supervises maintenance to equipment and facilities including but not limited to production process equipment, machinery, tools, and facilities systems and structures. Establishes staffing and maintenance schedules to compliment manufacturing and minimize loss of productivity. Distinguishing Characteristics This is a first-line supervisory management position. To qualify for or advance to Manager, prospective incumbents will comply with the qualifications for the position and demonstrate the following: ability organize multiple teams completing complex work orders in a way that minimizes machine down time, coordinate corrective maintenance activities with small teams, train others, prioritize and review work, and conduct performance reviews. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Receives, prioritizes, coordinates, and oversees maintenance, repair, installation, and assembly work orders within allowable time frames. Establishes short and long term schedules, coordinates, assigns, and inspects regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on machinery, processing equipment and facilities systems. Ensures that team members are oriented on Maintenance Technicians on TMP methods. Participates with Team Leaders in the review an analysis of proposed machinery, equipment, and facilities systems. Analyzes operating characteristics, reliability, and cost-of-maintenance. Inspects work-in-progress and completed assignments. Assesses compliance with maintenance and safety standards. Trains others and personally diagnoses problems affecting acceptable operation of process equipment, machinery, tools and facility equipment. Coordinates and performs regular inspections of equipment and machinery according to operating manuals and standard maintenance procedures to assure operating efficiency and identify potential problem areas. Documents inspection activities and establishes schedules for review of potential problems. Oversees and performs all inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair activities in compliance with standard maintenance procedures, operating manuals, manufacturers specifications, drawings and diagrams, and federal, state, and local codes and regulations. Continually analyzes production cycles and trends, then develops optimal times schedules from which to perform preventative and corrective maintenance. Assigns team members to preventative maintenance and total preventative maintenance activities. Participates with other work teams to identify, define, and establish process stability and improvement. Ensures that all team members comply with safety principles and practices. Receives feedback from Technicians and communicates problems and improvement opportunities to team leaders in manufacturing and engineering. Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position. Qualifications Knowledge and Skills Performance of this position requires a thorough working knowledge of the purpose and operations of plasma and laser cutting tables, forming, robotics, CNC machining, welding and industrial paint systems. Requires in-depth technical knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment and systems. Requires in-depth knowledge of the facility, including electrical, air and water flow, and mechanical systems. Requires skill at diagnosing systems with automated controls, troubleshooting, and solving mechanical problems. Requires an in-depth knowledge of TPM processes and the principles and practices of lean manufacturing. Requires sufficient human relations skills to convey technical concepts to others, instruct and supervise others, and achieve positive work relationships with team members and customers.
