Microsoft Corporation Licensing Manager - Turn 10 Studios in Redmond, Washington

Turn 10 Studios, the creators of the top-selling and critically acclaimed Forza franchise, has an exciting opportunity for a Licensing Manager - Turn 10 Studios.

The Licensing team is looking for an individual with a combination of skills and experience in closing deals for third party IP, project management, and assessing business risk. Accountabilities for the successful candidate will include coordination across multiple individuals and/or team disciplines such as content, design, marketing, business development, legal, finance and studio management as well as external partners and licensors. You’ll work with key external licensors to ensure their intellectual property is accurately represented in Forza video games. Success for this role includes a disciplined and predictable approach to licensing execution that supports the timely launch of Forza titles, products and services and the incumbent schedules and dependencies.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiation and execute inbound 3 rd -party IP license agreements in a timely manner to support launch of Forza franchise game titles.

  • Support day-to-day business development and account management for assigned licensors

  • Provide ongoing oversight of business relationships with current licensors including financial and royalty reporting and payments, compliance, escalation, and resolution of issues.

  • Assist with larger inbound licensing team in negotiating deals to enhance deal terms and results; submits and processes deals and reviews licensing contracts.

  • Assists in developing and driving a long-term, global plan for both inbound and outbound licensing.

  • Engage directly with business groups to include content, design, production, etc. to gather desired IP asks, understand game features, new technology, and identify new content opportunities.

  • Identify, assess, and communicate risks of 3 rd -party IP to internal Turn 10 stakeholders: drive teams towards successful resolution.

  • Manage internal compliance of contractual terms and requirements

  • Track and report out deal licensing status to Turn 10 Studio stakeholders

  • Facilitate collaborative and effective communication between licensing team and Turn studio stakeholders

  • Develop process efficiencies & documentation

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Liberal Arts, Sciences, or related field AND 3+ years relevant work experience (e.g., investment banking, consulting, finance, marketing, corporate strategy, sales, venture capital, legal, business development, product management, project management, software development, or related field)

  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of contract experience in one of these supporting disciplines – legal, business development, finance, marketing, product planning, or project management.

  • Familiarity with licensing structures or previous relations with licensors; knowledge of contract and royalty management systems preferred.

  • Ability to quickly build relationships, establish trust.

  • Ability to plan, create and maintain a highly effective schedule to manage multiple agreement negotiations taking place simultaneously on different timelines.

  • Ability to problem solve using data to drive informed decision making.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance while being aware and curious of the team progress.

  • Experience influencing positive outcomes without direct authority.

  • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, PowerBI, etc.

  • Preference for candidates who can work, or have experience working, internationally, by phone or email on US-based programs.

  • Passion and energy.

Business Development IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $83,400 - $167,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $108,900 - $183,000 per year.
