Actalent Lab Technician - 3D Printing & CAD in Redmond, Washington

ON SITE Contract Opportunity based in Redmond, WA

Pay: $35-$42 Hourly MAX

Purpose of the Team: This team is the advanced development lab for DC groups. They build and test everything like battery systems, animation cooling systems, etc.

Key projects: This role will contribute to general tinkering on projects. Examples would be maintenance on a robot, prototyping circuits or enclosers (3D printing work), converting video cards to liquid cooling capabilities, etc.

Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 20% meetings, 80% heads down

Unique Selling Points: Great team culture. they are in the process of creating new safety training in regard to forklift training, CPR, welding, etc. If the candidate is interested in specific trainings the team will try to set that up internally for them. The sponsor is flexible with work-life balance.

Candidate Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: 3-5 overall years of experience in the field.

  • Degrees or certifications required: none

  • Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain several years of experience in a range of different skills as they will be working on different projects.

  • Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on quality of work and communication (how they handle and report up problems).

Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years experience with 3D printing and prototyping (building models, prototyping and fabricating models etc.)

  • Minimum 2+years experience with CAD Software (computer-aided design and drafting) - Ex: Solidworks/AutoCAD/Creo

  • Minimum 2+years experience with a basic understanding of coding (Linux, etc.)

CAD/Fab Lab Technician

Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lab Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in prototyping electronics, fabricating models, and 3D printing, coupled with at least three years of hands-on experience. Though a specialized degree in the field is not required, proficiency in computer-aided design and drafting is essential. Basically, we’re looking for a professional tinkerer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prototyping mechanical systems and hardware

  • Building PCB and electronic component assemblies

  • Fabricating projects using 3D printing/additive manufacturing technologies

  • Utilizing CAD software to create and modify designs

  • Electrical troubleshooting and repairs

  • Managing inventory and maintaining lab equipment

  • Performing server maintenance and computer networking tasks

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role

  • Proficiency in computer-aided design and drafting (specific software not required)

  • Strong skills in prototyping electronics and fabricating models

  • Comfortable voiding warranties

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have):

  • Experience working in a data center environment

  • Electrical troubleshooting expertise

  • Inventory management experience

  • Forklift certification

  • Server maintenance and computer networking skills

  • Proficiency with Hand tools
