Microsoft is seeking a highly qualified candidate to join the team as a Lab Program Support Manager. As a Lab Program Support Manager within the Azure Silicon Engineering & Solutions (SES) and Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (CHIE) team, you will support innovative projects and apply your expertise in a fast paced & technically driven environment. You will work with a diverse set of teams to ensure that lab operations are optimized and tuned to perform in a complex environment while continuing to scale space, capacity, and capability.

Responsibilities

  • Providesfocused hardware and system support to high demanddevelopment programs.

  • Providesattention and resolution of lab hardware, software/firmware, mechanical/electrical and network issues within defined SLA’s.

  • Provides coordination of user requirements to align with automation capabilities and recommended technical solutions.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all documented processes and procedures.

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to meet and support needs inclusive of system operational goals, capacity optimization, and emerging capability needs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical engineering experience

  • OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience

  • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience

  • OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field

  • 2 years of management or team leadership experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in Technical operations related to Server System architecture that includes server functionality, network requirements and management, mechanical and electrical specification application, and software & firmware application in engineering labs or datacenter environments and/or data center operations.  

Other Requirerments

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background with system level qualification, validation, I/O interconnect, PCIE high speed data switches.

  • Experience with lab test equipment setups for signal measurement using oscilloscopes and the capability to read and interpret schematic diagrams.

  • Familiarity with core routing, switching functions and LAN technologies.

  • Experience with Linux command line operations, scripting languages such as PowerShell, installs, configures, and support of Operating Systems that includes both Linux and Windows..

  • Troubleshooting system hardware errors and fixing issues.

  • Hardware validation and repair/modification.

  • Customer and results oriented with attention to quality and details.

  • Motivated to continuously learn and improve existing solutions.

Hardware Engineering M4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
