Lab Manager needed for Contract Opportunity with Randstad Technologies client in Redmond, WA.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Lab Manager to help run the rack/stack cable image/troubleshooting for the team's lab data center footprint. An ideal candidate will have a wide range of IT knowledge and experience. In this role, you will support the gaming space with a chance to be engaged to contribute to the product and experiences of customers that are being created in the studio. Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • 3 years' minimum of Data Center Lead experience in managing a small team

  • 5 years' Data Center experience maintaining rack diagrams, understanding datacenter power/cooling loads, and server decommission standards

  • 5 years' experience with troubleshooting Dell and/or HP hardware

  • 4 years' experience with troubleshooting Windows server 2016 or later

  • 3 years' experience in operating large, high-availability, secure, redundant server environments

  • Experience with data center hardware, asset management, parts inventory control, as well as overall deployment

  • Ability to work with little supervision and always displays a self-starter work ethic.

  • Excellent understanding of basic networking including L2/L3, DNS, DHCP, TCP, switches, routers, and firewalls

  • Able to balance varying sized "rack/stack/cable" deployment tasks while incorporating a considerable volume of datacenter "break/fix" tasks on a daily basis

  • Ability to build, configure, and / or upgrade new or existing server environments to meet functional requirements

  • Adheres to company standards, methodology, confidentiality, security, and safety requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. servers

  • Must be able to stand on your feet at least 80% of the time

Pluses

  • Knowledge of Cisco, HP, DELL, EMC, and other datacenter hardware

  • Someone who has 2-3 years' experience with the same company in the same or similar role

responsibilities:

  • Manage a lab consisting of approx. 90 racks and 3000 devices

  • Maintain a set of machines in a laboratory setting including setup, teardown, and troubleshooting of client and/or server machines

  • Set up, configure and/or troubleshoot network hardware including hubs, routers, and switches

  • Manage 1-2 Data Center Technicians working on your team and ensure they are completing assigned tasks correctly and within SLA

  • Provide status reports on test scenarios, lab machines and configurations

  • Provide project or task status on a regular basis to the IT project managers

  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems as required

  • Install software and run some automated tests based on a clear set of instructions

  • Accepts responsibility for server deployment projects and tasks, but quickly escalates when issues arise, to ensure accurate delivery

  • Participate in ongoing process and documentation refinement in order to maintain operational effectiveness of both the Lab and Team

  • Partner with RE&F and CBRE facilities team to resolve power/cooling issues in the lab
