Microsoft Corporation Interstitial Lead, Narrative Architect in Redmond, Washington

TheCreative Services Teamwithin the Microsoft Events, Studios and Community (ESC) Organization is seeking an energetic and high caliber individual to serve asa Narrative Architect for our interstitial programming discipline.Interstitialprogramming is the connective content between main programming. Itinforms the overall flow of digital events and event storytelling using programmatic elements (wayfinding, breaking news, social media, attendee generated content andprerecorded materials).

The ESC portfolio covers events of various sizes and complexity, both in terms of audience size & composition,first party & third party,and delivery method. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role on events, working with diverse teams across all areas of Microsoft. As the narrative architect, the role will be responsible for developing eventexperiences that amplify the One Microsoft story and drive business impact at the intersection of compelling storytelling and quality programming-leading throughout ideation, development, production, and execution phases of every project on the creation and delivery of interstitial programming experiences that fundamentally break through digital barriers

A successful candidate will use narrative architecture and content programming fundamentals in conjunction with a deep understanding of our audience architypesto balance the needs ofcustomers, partners, and Microsoft during the creation ofour world-class experiences. Part producer, diplomat, and creative, this position has a high level of visibility and will require strong leadership, excellent collaboration skills,and the ability to communicate clearly and compellingly at all levels of the company.

  • Overseeideation,planning,production,and execution ofinterstitial momentsin collaboration with yourESC teammates,suppliers,and internalstakeholders

  • Design and deliverevent contentagendas,drive weeklystakeholder meetings,other key workstream meetings and executivereviews

  • Lead cross-company workstreamsto create and executeinterstitialnarratives; includes being able toidentify and mitigate issues/barriers to success for teamsand to create cohesion in eventexperiences

  • Share best practices for stakeholder and attendee input with the rest of the events community working to establish a standard for howeventsand narrativecan be deliveredacross thecompany.

  • Orchestrate event hosts and ensure all resources are made available to deliver on-airsuccess.

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in experientialevent marketing, television programming,or campaign developmentwith a deepunderstanding ofthekey driversforsuccessfuleventexecutionand audience experiences, across allmediums.

  • Strong creative writingskills

  • Deep understanding of productionand studiosprocesses

  • 5-7years of video, event, experientialand/or broadcastproductionexperience

  • Strong project management skills(manage multiple projects and deadlines)

  • Well-developed business acumenand theability totriage and landpriorities in changing environments(goal orientation with a strong bias toward action and tangible results)

  • Capable ofmanagingnumerousstakeholdersof various roles andlevels

  • Collaborate across teams and organizationsanddrive an aligned visionthat is grounded in commongoals.

  • Excellentcommunicatorwiththe abilitytoappropriatelytranslate concepts and ideasto multiple audience levels and at various altitudes.

  • General knowledge of Microsoft products, technologies, solutions, and architecture preferable.

  • Experience in digital events a strong plus.
