Job Overview
We are looking to fill an Intern - Project & Component Engineering role for Summer 2024 in its Redmond, WA location.
After orientation and training, interns will perform entry-level engineering tasks on rocket propulsion projects. Interns will support senior engineering staff and gain experience and familiarization with projects. Interns must be able to operate effectively in a team environment.
Summer internships will start in approximately May/June and end in August/September.

Essential Functions
Projects may focus on areas of project or component engineering including assisting in the successful planning, design, development, production, or qualification of chemical propulsion or electric propulsion systems for spacecraft and launch vehicle applications.
Tasks will vary but may include data collection, entry-level performance analysis, software tool development, trade studies, fabrication support, test monitoring, hardware tracking, assistance with presentations and reports to both external customers and Aerojet Rocketdyne staff.
Requirements
Candidate must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering (or similar major) and returning to school upon completion of the assignment.
Preferred Qualifications
3.2 GPA or above
Coursework in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, materials, electric circuits, plasma physics, combustion and/or rocket engine performance analysis
Experience with laboratory hardware, mechanical assembly, or test
Working knowledge of Microsoft Software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
MATLAB, Simulink, or CAD
Excellent verbal and written communication and
Teamwork and problem-solving skills
Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
Pay range for this position:
22.00 - 33.00 per hour
